In this new production, Clara Winter as Archangel Michael slips into the heart of the monument. There he joins in the lamentations of the soldiers. But this performance of masculine mourning is overlaid with outbursts of blood lust and sexual desire. The themes dealt with include the willingness to submit, which is evoked in the monument as a national virtue, the search for ecstasy, achieved through the thirst for blood in a war, during a rave or through physical devotion. But also tourism and the new cleanliness that sterilise our encounter with this place today.

In dieser Neuproduktion schlüpft Clara Winter als Erzengel Michaels in das Herz des Völkerschlachtdenkmals (Leipzig). Dort stimmt er mit in das Klagen der Soldaten ein. Doch diese performance maskuliner Trauer wird von Anwandlungen kriegerischer und sexueller Lust überlagert. Die dabei verhandelten Themen, sind u.a. die Opferbereitschaft, die im Monument als nationale Tugend heraufbeschworen wird, die Suche nach Extase, erreicht durch den Blutrausch eines Krieges, während eines Raves oder durch körperliche Hingabe. Aber auch Tourismus und die neue Sauberkeit, die unsere Begegnung mit diesem Ort heute sterilisieren.
