The exhibition looks at the role of ruins in history’s ‘invasion of the hypercontemporary’. When history tries to be more than an account of an event post factum, and establishes itself as a filter of the present and a lens through which to perceive reality as such, there are material remains, or rather symbolically loaded traces which are allowed or forced to remain, in order to legitimise the narratives they represent.
